Loggerhead Shrike

The Loggerhead Shrike this bird is a year round resident in Utah at nine inches tall this is a fearsome bird not afraid to prey on other small birds it sits perched on fence posts and tree limbs watching for insects and small animals and is known to use thorn bushes to impale its catch to store and eat later. Gray in color with a black mask and a white breast the Loggerhead Shrike also has a slight hooked bill.
