Granada's Alhambra

Known as the best example of Moorish architecture to be seen today, the Alhambra was home to the Moorish rulers of southern Spain in the 14th and 15th centuries. It is a vast palace and fort complex strategically located on a hill-top promontory overlooking the Darro River and present day Granada, that was declared a national monument in 1870.

The Generalife Palace, or Palacio de Generalife, was the Summer palace for the Nasrid sultans during their reign. Built in the 1300s, it has spectacular views across to the Nasrid Palace section of the Alhambra.
