Curious habits of the Yellow Bellied Marmot.

The Yellow Bellied Marmot or also known as the Rock chuck is common to the western United States they say you find most of them at an elevation of 6500 ft. but in Utah you can find them in the lower valleys if there is a source of water close by. They are found around reservoirs that are lined with large rocks and even close to the wetlands and marshes around the Great Salt Lake. They are a burrowing animal that likes to come out and warm up in the midday sun they feed on vegetation and insects
