Hover fly 'Melangyna viridiceps' close-up on flower

'Melangyna viridiceps' is an Australasian hoverfly, and one of the two most common hoverflies in Australia, alongside Simosyrphus grandicornis. It is known in Australia as the common hover fly and found across Eastern Australia, as well as on some Islands of New Zealand. The adult flies feed on pollen and nectar which they gather from flowers, where as the larvae feed on aphids.
