Wandering Albatross Juvenile

Wandering Albatross juvenile on it's nest, on the coastal flats of Macquarie Island. The chick is so large (12kg when it leaves the nest) that it takes just over 12 months to develop fully. This means the breeding cycle stretch over 2 years.
