Xian 10 City Wall at Night

Because Xian was at the end of the Silk Road and key to trade, it was considered an imperial city during the Sui and Tang dynasties, and a strong wall was considered vital to the protection of the city. The wall was build over over pre-existing palace walls of the Tang Dynasty.
