Xian 18 Da Cie En Temple Complex

Important to the development of the Buddhist community of China, the Da Cie En Temple complex was built in 652. It also houses the famed Wild Goose Pagoda seen behind. Da Cie En Temple has been a predominant centre of Buddhist philosophy and learning since the 7th century. The first Abbot was Xuanzang, the famed wandering monk. Today the area has a number of attractions and is a major tourist site.
