Xian City Paifang Gate 20

Paifangs are decorative archways that were originally used to mark the separation of sections of a city or town. They reached their most elaborate stage during the Tang Dynasty and eventually also became decorative or memorial gateways. This paifang in Xiang marks the boundary to a section of the city.
